Deru Internet is committed
to providing a quality of service virtually unrivaled by our competition.
From a technical perspective, quality service is determined by the
combination of multiple factors such as Bandwidth, Content, Colocation
Facilities, and Server Infrastructure.
Bandwidth
Although it is only one part of the puzzle to delivering quality
services, the biggest hurdle an ISP has to overcome is the ingress
and egress bandwidth of it's IP network. Some ISPs start out with
a few T1s (1.5 million bits per second) of connectivity to one or
two providers, and sell it until they fill that up, then buy more.
Others will buy one or maybe two DS3's (45 million bits per second)
of bandwidth to a few providers, usually only subscribing to a portion
of those DS3's (typically buying say 9 megs of connectivity over
a DS3).
Deru Internet
is connected via four gigabit (1000 megabit) connections to our
provider. We believe (and can prove) that a connection to us
is going to offer better quality of service than a connection
to one of the national backbone providers alone. We aggregate
all their good connectivity and skip past the poor connectivity.
We are committed to bringing the highest quality Internet connectivity
available to our customers.
Via our close
partnership with our primary provider, PureGig
Internet, who has been providing colocation and connectivity
to the Arizona marketplace since 1995, we have access to their
connectivity of multiple oc12 (622 megabit connections) and
gigabit ethernet links to AT&T, Level 3, uu.net, Qwest,
and Limelight networks.
We also have a backup
gigabit link to Level 3 for redundancy and disaster failover.
Our building
offers multiple fiber carriers, all of which are available in
our colocation facilities: Time Warner Telecom, Electric Lightwave,
Inc., AT&T,
WorldCom, Qwest, AGL, Limelight Metro, and MFN.
Content
We currently host all TUCOWS software mirrors - over 80 gigs of
Windows, Macintosh, Linux, BSD, PDA, and Desktop Themes shareware.
It represents content that is updated daily and is strategically
situated as close to our customer access lines as possible, giving
you the fastest possible access to today's top programs available
on the Internet.
Via our partnership with EasyNews,
a locally owned Usenet News provider (and currently the number one
originator of quality Usenet posts), you will have access to Usenet
news that is unmatched. Over 40 terabytes of storage offer retention
times on articles measured in months on the text based groups, and
weeks on ALL the binaries groups, including your favorites.
A full feed of Usenet News requires more than a DS3 (45 megabits)
of bandwidth - if your provider hosts it's own news and doesn't
have at least 45 megabits of bandwidth allocated to Usenet News
alone, you are not getting all of the Usenet News posts available.
Colocation
Knowing that our customers have varying needs when it comes to
colocation of equipment, we have two colocation facilities available.
Our top tier facility is located within the PureGig
Internet Class A facilities, secured by security guard,
biometric hand scanners, and video cameras. It sits on two
electrical power grids, is supported by dual UPS backup generators,
and is further backed up by a stand by diesel generator.
Our secondary facility, geared for the more budget conscious,
is a Class B facility, with security guard, security alarms, and
video cameras providing security. Power is through conditioned
UPS lines.
Both facilities
have multiple connections to our bandwidth
provider, PureGig
Internet.
Server Infrastructure
Today's computers are
quite powerful. While it is possible to run the various services
an ISP provides, (Domain Name Service, Authentication, Web Hosting,
Network Management, Email reception/delivery, etc.) on one or
a few servers, we have invested in multiple machines for each
function , with gigabytes of ram, Ultra 160 SCSI interfaces,
multiple Ethernet cards, all running on a full switched
1000/100 megabit Foundry, Cisco and HP Ethernet infrastructure.
We are committed to scaling this infrastructure as utilization
increases and ensuring redundancy in all of our services.
We run Linux
on our main machines, and Windows 2003 on our windows hosting
machines.
All of our services, network connections, and servers are fully
monitored with state of the art network monitoring software so we
will know before you when a problem arises, and typically fix it
before you notice.
24/7 on-site Support
We have round the clock, 24x7 onsite support to look over your
service.
